5/29/2019; Week 6: Response to " Personal Space".
In this opportunity, we'll talk about "Personal Space". Personal space is like an invisible bubble that surrounds us and makes us feel safe.
This topic reminds me of a colleague I had in college, he was very nice, but always invaded your personal space, which made us all uncomfortable, eventually many avoided it for this reason. Some of us, we had to talk to him, and explain to him about this. Over time it got better, but at first, it was terrible, because it got too close to you that you might think I was going to kiss you. But, it is an issue that not only influences the culture but the way of being of each person, for example, I am a person who considers me a little cold, when I give a hug is because I really feel affection for that person, I give a kiss on the cheek when he is a friend of time. However, here in Argentina, I have gotten used to the fact that when you meet someone you give them a kiss on the cheek. It has been a shock for me, yes it has been, but it is a matter of adaptation.
Hi Zuraima: I love your cartoons ! They made me laugh ! I had a similar experience with a man who consistently stood 'too close' to people. Many people avoided him completely because of it. Like you, I just tried to get used to it. It is interesting how we have those spaces ingrained in us, isn't it ? Since you have lived in Argentina for a while, it would seem logical for you to feel comfortable with the 'kiss' , wouldn't it? I am the same way with my Hispanic friends here in the USA: I am used to the 'kiss' and hugging, but it is still not quite comfortable yet.
ResponderEliminarRight!, I'm not comfortable with that yet, but I've learned to respect it and accept it. regards!
