5/2/2019; Week 02: Response to "Is the Great American Teacher Dead?"

Reading the article, I have felt very identified, for my own experience learning English, I have had a lot of teachers, some very motivating and others that marked my learning, but in a bad way.

I think that education at a general level must undergo a radical change, it must encourage, according to the intelligence of the students, it must be collaborative and participatory. As the article says "A positive relationship between teachers and students and the improvement of a positive self-concept for students are extremely important". It is extremely important to build a bridge of trust between student and teacher, to give a comfortable environment, where the student does not feel ashamed to give their opinion, without the fear of being a victim of ridicule or contempt on the part of their teacher.
citing the article, which says that according to studies carried out, shame is the cause of cardiovascular and cardiac diseases in the long term. Therefore, it is almost imperative that an atmosphere of trust, collaboration, optimism, and respect be developed in the classrooms.

How can we develop that empathy? How can we develop that environment conducive to deep learning and creative thinking and motivated students?
