05/28/19; Week 6: Response to "Differences in Emotional Expressivity".
This topic is very much linked to the topic I discussed in my previous post and makes me think a lot about being able to develop empathy and tolerance and not get carried away by first impressions. As a Latina, we are not afraid to express our emotions in public, this is our culture, and for example, in our countries, when we enter somewhere or pass by a person, we say good morning or good afternoon and we smile, and I was very amused, that a friend told me that in Canada, he always greets and gives good morning or good afternoon and people (although they are very polite) are left looking at him as if he were crazy or frown very strange, and it is because it is not their culture to do this that for us it is normal. Even among Latinos themselves, there are levels of emotional expression, there are those who are very reserved and another group that is very expressive.
